Positive Thoughts Friend Card

I decided to go back to my stash on this card design.  The design is quite simple and an easy card to make.  I love the combination of Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen with a tough of color for the butterflies.  I like the blue butterflies best, but the yellow ones are growing on me.   The Soft Succulent Satin Ribbon is a real treat, there is just something special about satin ribbon.

Friends Are Like Seashells Birthday Card

I had been looking for an excuse to use this beautiful New Horizon’s Paper and this was it.  I am trying to do more cards that would work for anyone, but definitely something suitable to send to a male friend, relative or colleague, I think this one works.  This paper could also co-ordinate with our new Waves of the Ocean Paper and suite by paper piecing some of those ocean images under the horizon.  I may try one of those soon.

Epressions In Ink Thanks Card

This card came about as the result of a team SWAP, where we were asked to create a card from a Card Sketch.  Card Sketches, or layouts are available on the internet from a variety of sources.  You would go to your browser and type in Card Sketch or Card Layout and you will find that there are many available.  I found one that appealed to me and I based my card on the idea of the card layout.  I did not follow it exactly, but it is close.  Sometimes they can be very handy when you just can’t come up with an idea.  Sketches are an excellent source of Inspiration for card makers.

I enjoy picking a random sketch and forcing myself to make something I might not otherwise attempt.  It is fun and worth trying.  I am quite pleased by the card I came up with.

  • I used a Basic White Card Base 8 ½” by 5 ½”, scored and folded at 4 ¼”, 1 piece 3 ¾” by 5” to back the DSP on the front of the card, and a small piece of white 2 ¼” by 1” for the sentiment, also a piece of scrap enough to stamp and die cut the small flower 2 times
  • next I used  2 pieces of Old Olive, 4” by 5 ¼” for the inside and the outside of the card
  • Then I used the Expressions In Ink Specialty Designer Series. The Peach Flower paper for the front of the card is 2 1/8” by 4 ¼”, the band across the front is 1 ¼” by 4 ¼”, and the piece inside is ¾” by 5”, also fussy cut from scrap two flower centers for the die cut flowers
