One more from By the Bay, with no birds! I really do love this set and could easily spend a lot of time designing from this set. I love the simplicity of this card. I was wrong in the video the Pearlized Enamel Effect are still Current, YAY, and I do love the way it looks. This is a simple and fast card. The only thing is, I want to make more copies but there is a limited number of sheets of the DSP. I will have to figure out what kind of backing will work in its place. I suppose, I could cut the DSP smaller to just go on the top and bottom of the focal piece. That would give me a few more cards. If I come up with a solution I will add to this post later.
Measurements and supplies for today’s By the Bay Thanks, Pearl Card:
Thick Very Vanilla cardstock for the card bases cut 8 ½” by 5 ½”, scored and folded at 4 ¼”, a second piece cut 2 ¾” by 3 ¾” for the focal piece on the front of the card.
Sahara Sand 2 pieces, the first cut 4” by 5 ¼” for layering on the inside of the card, the second cut 3” by 4” to mat the focal piece on the front of the card.
From By the Bay DSP cut 2 pieces 1 is 4” by 5 ¼” for the front of the card and the second ¾” by 5 ¼” for the inside of the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Let me know if you have questions.
I used this card in my team meeting as a mystery stamping project. I love the card and it is pretty simple to do once you cut the pieces. On the original card I used the large bird cut from the DSP and the the card for the video I used a stamped, die cut and colored bird. The DSP has a limited number of birds that can be cut directly. However you can make unlimited versions from the stamped image. This could easily be a birthday or any other kind of sentiment card. I think it lends itself to use also as a masculine card. I have really enjoyed the By the Bay stamp and die set, and I am not done yet.
Measurements and supplies for today’s Fun Fold By the Bay, For You Card: This is a modified Gate Fold Card
Night of Navy cardstock for the card bases cut 8 ½” by 5 ½”, scored and folded at 1 ¾” and 6”, plus a second piece cut 4 1//4” by2 ¾”
White, 1 piece cut 4” by 5 ¼” for the inside and a piece 2 ½” by 4” for the focal piece
From By the Bay DSP cut 2 pattern 2 pieces each (for 4 pieces from 2 different patterns) 1 piece 1 ½” by 5 ¼” and the second piece 2 ¼” by 5 ¼”
A bit of scrap old olive to cut two sets of grass one for the front and one for the inside
and enough scrap White to cut the three birds, one larger one and two smaller ones.
I don’t usually make cards with critters, etc. but plan to use some of these for my Grandson. With the additional cards following these first 6 there are a couple that are less juvenile. For the video I did make 6 cards, but just couldn’t stop. So there are two additional cards that I show here that are pretty easy to make. Here are the first 6 cards, these are the ones covered in the video: The next two have measurements and descriptions.
In addition to the kit supplies I used A2 card bases in Thick Basic White 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″. I also used a bit of Pool Party Ink.
Following are the last two I made.
I used a Thick Basic White Card Base and layered a piece of Basic Black 4″ by 5 1/4 then used the little flower stamp and stamped in Momento Black all over a piece 3 3/4″ by 4″ and colored in the flowers using my markers. I also used the tiny hello stamp to fill in in Basic Black. I used a strip of black 4″ by 3/4″, with the black and white ribbon on either side. The sentiment is simple on a small piece of white on the black strip. The inside has a Basic Black layer 4″ by 5 1/4″ and a white layer over that that is 3 3/4″ by 5″, more stamped and colored flowers. and a strip of the black and white ribbon on the side. I think this is a very cheery little card.
This card is on a Thick Basic White Cardstock Base 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″. Then I used the inside of one of the kit card bases with the gradient blue background. On this card piece I used the kite stem to make flower stems used my marker to “draw in” a few leaves and draw and cut out a couple more. I stamped the sun stamp on some of the envelope paper and used my blender pen to tease out some sun flower leaves in the sun rays to make sun flowers and used Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for the inner markings of the flower. I then fussy cut out the home made Sun Flowers and added them to the stems on the front of the card. The inside has a balmy Blue layer 4″ by 5 1/4″ then a layer of white 3 3/4″ by 5″ with and additional sun flower and a few leaves in one of the corners.
Thanks so much for Stopping by. Let me know if you have questions.
This card has been living in my head for a few weeks. I wanted to make a simple fun fold card and I liked the idea of the double point cards. The points on those cards always appeared too short and stubby to my eye. So I set out to design one that was more pleasing to my eye, and this is what I came up with. A single longer point is, as I see it, a bit more elegant. The idea of the Designer Series Paper that looked floral had a real appeal. As you can see, any designer series paper will make this design work. I love the look of this one and am going to try some other floral paper to work with. There are a few kits available for this card, it is located on the Shop With Me section of my blog under Kits to Go. (when they are gone they are gone.)
On the second version, the one made in the video I used our stitched greenery die on the white panel on the front of the card, and I really like the textured effect. It was interesting to me that you could stamp that paper both before and after using the stitched greenery die. I hope you give this a try.
Measurements and Supplies for Today’s Fancy Flora Fun Fold Birthday Card:
The card base is a Orchid Oasis cardstock (this cardstock should match colors from your DSP) cut 8 ½” by 5 ½”, scored and folded at 4 ¼”, plus a small piece of scrap to back the sentiment
A piece of Petal Pink Cut 4“, by 5 ¼” for layering on the front of the card (again this choice depends on the colors in the DSP that you use).
Then a piece of Basic White, cut 3 ¾” by 5” also for layering on the front of the card, another piece of basic white cut 4“, by 5 1/4” for the inside of the card and a small piece of scrap to Stamp and die cut the sentiment.
the DSP, any floral or any of the patterns in fancy flora will work, is cut 4 1/4″ Square to layer on the front a second piece is cut 3/4″ by 3 3/4″ for the front and a strip 3/8″ by 5 1/4″ for the inside of the card.
Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what questions you have.
This is my first opportunity to work with the Seaside Bay Bundle, I just love Sandpipers. I don’t know why they are so appealing to me, I didn’t grow up around water.
I like the torn paper on this card and the simple scene. And, I really like the way the inside of this card came out. This card could easily be Birthday, or Thinking of You. I do believe it makes a good masculine card for almost any occasion as well.
